Come a little closer
Come a little closer, then you’ll see. This installation is a connection between the microscopic and us. By flipping the position of observer vs observed we empathize with our invisible roommates a little better than before. Samples of mold and bacteria from the school grown in petri dishes. Beings that coexist with us yet are invisible to us in our everyday lives. You can see them through the microscope but what if they saw you through the same lens? We can choose to empathize, or we can choose to disconnect.

2
collecting samples of mold and bacteria
Cotton swabs were used to collect fungal and bacterial samples from surfaces throughout the school, including keyboards, the cafeteria, ateliers, sinks, ventilation shafts, and door handles. The collected samples were then transferred onto agar plates and incubated to allow microbial colonies to grow and develop.

3
microscopic images
The cultivated microbial colonies were examined under a microscope, revealing intricate structures and patterns. These microscopic images were then captured and incorporated into the installation as visual material.
